Who do you serve? Do I have to be from Myanmar?

Is MYTTA Foundation a law firm? Will I be working with an attorney?

MYTTA Foundation itself is not a law firm. We are a community-based organization that partners with experienced, licensed immigration attorneys and law firms including The Law Offices of Vincent Wong, WIN Law Firm, LLC, and Stewart J. Kong to ensure clients have access to qualified legal representation when needed. When your case requires a lawyer, we connect you with one of our trusted partners.

What immigration services do you help with?

We assist with a wide range of immigration matters, including asylum and refugee protection, immigration court (EOIR) defense, Employment Authorization (EAD) applications and renewals, VAWA and U visa petitions for survivors of abuse or crime, green card and permanent residency pathways, and support for individuals and families dealing with detention. Each case is unique, so we recommend scheduling a consultation to discuss your specific situation.

What languages do you offer services in?

We provide services in Burmese and English, and our staff understands the cultural context of the Myanmar community. If you speak another ethnic language from Myanmar, please let us know when you contact us so we can do our best to accommodate you.

When can I get a work permit (EAD), and how long does it take?

If you have a pending asylum application, you may become eligible to apply for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) after a required waiting period set by USCIS. Processing times vary depending on USCIS workload and your case type. During your consultation, we can review your timeline and help you prepare and file the correct forms.

What should I do if a family member has been detained by ICE?

Time is critical in detention cases. Contact us as soon as possible, and we will work with our partner attorneys to assist with bond requests, release coordination, and case preparation. Try to gather important information in advance, including the detained person's full legal name, A-number (if known), date of birth, and the facility where they are being held.
